Stop 01 / 07 · The harvest
It starts on a branch.
Coffee grows as a fruit, and only the deep red ones are ready. They get taken off the branch by hand, one at a time, because a machine cannot tell ripe from nearly.

Every cup we hand across the counter on East Shea crossed the world to get here. This is the whole trip, in seven stops.
The journey
This is the road every cup on our menu travels, in this order, every single time.

72°F · picked ripeStop 02 / 07 · The haul
Everything picked that morning has to reach the mill the same day or it starts fermenting in the basket. Sorted, hulled, and stacked into jute for the long ride.
70°F · same-day haulStop 03 / 07 · The drying beds
Raked out thin across raised beds and turned by hand, every few hours, for days. Rush this step and the whole crop tastes flat. Nobody rushes this step.
104°F · sun on the bedsStop 04 / 07 · The roast
Beans go in pale and grassy and come out dark and sweet. The entire flavor of the cup you are about to drink gets decided in roughly twelve minutes of heat.
420°F · first crackStop 05 / 07 · The grind
Fine for espresso, coarser for the batch brew. Ground the moment you order, because coffee starts losing what the roast gave it about a minute after it is broken open.

Water at brewing temperature pushed through the bed until the crema comes up the color of caramel. Milk steamed to the same heat, folded in, finished by hand.

The room
Coffee Plantation sits on East Shea in Scottsdale, Arizona, and it was built to be a place you settle into rather than pass through. A different local artist takes the walls every month. Live music plays on weekends. The patio runs late, the wifi is quick, and nobody is going to look at your laptop and sigh.
“We would rather you stayed. That is why the patio is open late and the wifi is fast.”
Getting yours
Whichever one fits your morning. The coffee is the same either way.
Put your order in on the app or online and it is waiting on the counter when you walk in. No line, no waiting on the bar.
Walk up and tell us what you are in the mood for. If you do not know, say what you usually drink and we will get you close.
Grab the patio or a table inside. Fast wifi, art on the walls, live music on the weekend. Breakfast runs into lunch without a gap.
Open 7a daily, 10p on Fri & SatTakeout catering for meetings, classrooms, and early mornings that need to go well. Send a note and we will build the order with you.
Regulars
The crepe is much larger than it looks, comes out warm, and is a serious delight.
The new atmosphere is amazing and the menu items are phenomenal after the recent remodel.
Great coffee, and the iced americano hits the spot every single time. Friendly, fast, and the patio is a good place to sit.
